Welcome to part two of planning a baby shower the mum-to-be will love!

• sent out the invitations.

Now it's onto the really fun stuff...planning all the little details that will make the baby shower fun, festive and memorable. The theme that you've chosen should be carried through all of the details, to make your baby shower feel cohesive.


Let's decorate...
There are plenty of ready-made party decorations available on the market. Head to your local party supplier or check out online party stores for all your needs. ?If you're feeling crafty and wanting something a little more unique, you could make them yourself to match your theme. ?Your decorations could be as simple and inexpensive as tissue paper pom poms, bunting or a banner, bunches of balloons, or a posy of flowers. ?Colour can be easily added to your party through table cloths, napkins, platters and more. Colour coordinate your party foods to go with your theme too! If you're having fairy bread, stick to one colour sprinkle such as pink or blue; colour your cupcake icing to match, or pop in a cupcake topper.?Here's a few examples...
Every party needs a cake...
Everybody loves cake. It doesn't matter if you're 8 or 80...the cake is the centerpiece of every party, and probably the most photographed aspect of the event...aside from the guest of honour of course. ?The design of the cake is just as important as the flavour. ?Indulge the mum-to-be, and have the cake made in her favourite flavour, then decorate it to suit your theme. Bake it at home, or hire a cake maker to create one for you...but bear in mind, purchasing a decorated cake can be expensive, so make sure you factor that into your party budget. ?The only limit is your imagination!
What to feed the guests... The food and beverages you serve at your baby shower will depend on the location, the time of day, and the season. ?Most baby showers are held as a morning or afternoon tea, making finger foods the perfect thing to nibble on. ?Ensure you have a good balance of sweet and savoury morsels. ?Four-six different options of each would be appropriate, and don't forget a vegetarian option or two. ?Once again, utilise pinterest to collect recipes as you research ideas for your event. ?Seek help from family and friends to help bake and cook...they will be honoured to help out! ?Most recipes can be made ahead, saving you time on the day of the baby shower.

Having fun at a baby shower can be thirsty work. Mix up a big bowl of delicious fruit punch, make use of your coffee maker, and purchase some fruity teas for your guests. ?Pitchers of cool water are always appreciated. The big question... will you be making alcohol available to your guests??Decide whether or not your baby shower will be a "dry"?event.

Get your game on...
There are pages and pages of websites that cater for baby shower games, such as Baby Shower 101. Games are fun, and they give your guests something to do during the party. They can be corny and cliche, but they definitely get the party started. ?Three to four games is plenty for a two hour baby shower.

An alternative to the traditional games is to get a little crafty...have your guests make headbands and hair clips for the baby, or perhaps hand paint baby clothes. ?Advice cards to the mum-to-be are a really nice keepsake that can be filled out by the guests at the party, and included in a baby album afterwards.

Don't forget to take photos...
Do you have a friend that is handy with a camera? Invite them along to take photos for the mum-to-be of her special day. As the hostess, chances are you won't have time to capture those memories. ?A photographer can capture all of the little memorable details, the guests, the gifts, the fun and frivolity, that you have spent so much time planning for. ?The mum-to-be will love looking back on the baby shower, and a photo album would make a lovely gift. ?Take it one step further and set up a fun photo booth with props! Your guests will have so much fun playing!!

It's polite to say thank you...
As your guests leave, it's a nice gesture to give your guests a thank you gift. This doesn't need to be expensive...cartons of popcorn with "ready to pop" on the tag; individually packaged home made biscuits; or perhaps a bar of chocolate wrapped in a thank you message. A small gesture to say thank you, you're presence at the baby shower and your gifts are truly appreciated.

Indiana court: Son can sue dad over car accident

An Indiana man can sue his dad for accidentally driving into him, causing significant leg injuries, the Indiana Supreme Court has ruled.

The state?s high court on Monday overturned a lower court ruling that said Robert L. Clark Jr. was prohibited by state law from suing Robert L. Clark Sr. for damages for injuries the son suffered in the?Sept. 5, 2007, incident in Adams County.

According to court documents, the younger Clark, age 46, was a passenger in a car being driven by his father. When they arrived at their destination, the son got out to help his father park. He walked in front of the vehicle and motioned to his father to drive forward into a parking space.

Once the vehicle had pulled in, the son raised his hand to signal his father to stop. Instead of pressing the brake pedal, the father?s foot hit the accelerator. The car lurched forward, pinning Clark Jr. between it and the next vehicle.

The son suffered significant leg injuries. He and his wife filed a lawsuit against his father in November 2008, alleging negligence.

The Adams County trial court threw out the case, saying that under the state?s ?guest statute? drivers are not liable for loss or damage arising from injuries to or the death of?the drivers? family members. The Indiana Court of Appeals reversed that ruling and said the son could sue.

The Supreme Court, in a 3-2 opinion, agreed with the appellate decision and overturned the trial court ruling.

The justices said:

The Indiana Guest Statute prevents certain designated passengers from recovering damages for injuries resulting from the ordinary negligence of the motor vehicle operator, where such passenger was ?being transported without payment in or upon the motor vehicle."? Ind. Code ? 34-30-11-1 (emphasis added).? We hold that, as to injuries inflicted when such a passenger has exited the vehicle and is standing outside of it and directing the driver's attempt to park, the passenger is not "in or upon" the vehicle and thus is not precluded from bringing a negligence action against the driver.

HBT: Angels discussing trade for Rays' Shields

Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reported over the weekend that the Angels had serious interest in acquiring starter James Shields from the Rays.

And now it appears Anaheim is getting serious.

From ESPN?s Tim Kurkjian comes word that the Halos and Rays have discussed a trade that would send Shields out west in exchange for center fielder Peter Bourjos and catcher Hank Conger. But the ?deal is complicated,? according to Kurkjian?s source, because money would also have to be involved and struggling right-hander Ervin Santana might somehow be worked into the mix.

Shields, 30, has posted an ugly 4.39 ERA in 131 1/3 innings this season despite a sparkling 124/39 K/BB ratio. His contract carries a $9 million club option for 2013 and a $12 million club option for 2014.

Bourjos, 25, is an elite defender who has been made expendable by the rise of Mike Trout. Conger is a 24-year-old former first-round pick who boasts a .298/.360/.463 career batting line in the minor leagues.

New Types Added

In light of some questions that were brought up in the OOC, we have added two new types to zombies:

Type Beta (B): These zombies look like normal humans, except for two things; they all have blue-tinted skin and their hair always seems to be in shades of gray, silver, or white. Type Betas are the only zombies that could truly call themselves the Resurrected; having been born from two (male and female, like humans do) type Alpha zombies, these would be your 'purebloods' of the race, if the term applied. They age until they reach the same age as when the parents were when they died. After that, the never appear to age any further. The only odd things about this race is that they have little regenerative abilities and can die. However, they have been known to have extraordinary mental capabilities, such as pyrokinesis, telekinesis, cryokinesis, etc., etc. The most powerful of these can even teleport.

Type Delta (D): These are the zombies the Resurrected hate being confused with, the monsters that tend to give them all a bad name. These zombies are people who died and were resurrected, but failed at achieving perfect revival. Because of this, they are constantly stuck somewhere in-between life and death; they simply cannot come to terms that they have died and that they were brought back to life. Although crazed and highly unstable, type Delta's are the most powerful of the Resurrected simply because they have complete control over their regenerative abilities; they can control their own flesh and bone at will, although not so much as to be able to generate entirely new limbs. Take care; these are not your mindless zombies, but intelligent psychopaths. Although they can die, that doesn't mean they care....

We hope this helps. If anyone has a character sheet for a Zombie, please change it accordingly if you need to. ^^

The Lung Cancer Risk: Five Fake Treatments for Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a cancer caused by asbestos exposure. Sadly, most people who are diagnosed with mesothelioma die within five years of their mesothelioma diagnosis. In their quest for a cure, many patients turn to alternative "treatments." According to recent medical data, most of these "treatments" simply do not work, and many can cause serious harm. Read on to learn which fake mesothelioma treatments to avoid.

1. Rattlesnake Powder Therapy

Rattlesnake treatments are based on a medically unproven claim that a powder derived from rattlesnake has the power to kill cancer. The rattlesnake powder is made by cutting off the head of the snake and drying the remaining flesh in the sun. The dehydrated snake is then ground into powder and packaged into capsules. The patient is supposed to take one capsule every hour until he or she is healed. Alarmingly, many rattlesnake healers insist that this "cure" cannot be combined with any other medication. Thus, cancer patients are told to stop taking their cancer drugs and painkillers in order to benefit from the magical power of rattlesnake.

2. Oxidative Stress Treatments

Oxygen-based treatments are grounded in the idea that cancer cells cannot survive in a highly oxygenated environment. Oxygen therapy proponents attempt to produce lethal levels of hydrogen peroxide in cancer cells by administering high-dose intravenous combinations of vitamin C, vitamin K and a drug called Perftec. Although the proponents of this therapy claim that it only kills the cancer cells and is harmless to the surrounding tissues, these claims have not been scientifically proven.

3. Melatonin Therapy

Melatonin cancer treatments use high doses of melatonin, a hormone that is naturally produced by the body, to defeat cancer. The melatonin healers claim that, in high doses, melatonin boosts the immune system, which then destroys the cancer cells. While some healers recommend increasing the levels of melatonin through a twice-a-day meditation sessions, most others administer melatonin in capsules. This approach might be dangerous because the long-term effects of high doses of melatonin are unknown.

4. The Rife Machine

The Rife machine was developed in the 1930s by a microbiologist named Dr. Royal Rife. This machine attempts to kills cancer cells by administering specific sound frequencies to the body. The machine allegedly sends the sound waves deep into the tissues and is so effective that all that is required is a three-minute treatment every other day. While the promoters of this super-treatment (which costs thousands of dollars) claim phenomenal success, their claims are lacking evidentiary support.

5. DHEA Therapy

DHEA (dehydroepiandrosterone) is a potent steroid hormone. The body produces low quantities of DHEA naturally, but the production of DHEA decreases as the body ages. The DHEA promoters claim that the reduction in the "fountain of youth" hormone causes cancer, which is why high-dose DHEA supplementation is necessary to beat cancer. However, high doses of DHEA can potentially cause liver and prostate damage. While the research into the benefits of DHEA continues, so far no proof has been produced showing that DHEA helps fight cancer.

A mesothelioma prognosis is a difficult reality to contemplate. Those who are diagnosed with the disease typically die within one to two years. Due to the shortened lifespan of those stricken by the illness, it is especially important to avoid fake treatments and receive care from a qualified medical professional. A mesothelioma attorney may be able to help you receive financial compensation in order to cover some of the costs of your treatments.

? More than two thirds of over 50s hold parties at their home

? One in eight over 50s use their garden for entertaining

? Grandparents at the hub of family parties

As the sun has finally arrived, millions of over 50s will be digging out the Pimms and parasols and getting the family over for a party. Research by Saga Home Insurance shows that two thirds of over 50s say their home is the venue for family get-togethers and one in eight say their garden is where they entertain, for these people, the start of the summer is the start of the party season.

The research also indicates that grandparents seem to be the hosts with the most when it comes to family parties. 66% of grandparents host general family get-togethers, 42% host family birthdays and 42% also say their home is the venue for the family Christmas celebrations.

All this means that grandparents are the true party people, attending more parties each year than the rest of the over 50s. Two thirds (65%) of over 50s say they attend 1-5 parties a year however a fifth of grandparents (18%) say they attend up to 10 family functions.

Regionally it is those in the South East (75%) who host the most parties overall.

Commenting on the research, Roger Ramsden, Chief Executive, Saga Services, said: ?Nan and Grandad?s appears to be the place to be for a family knees up, however grandparents also tend to be the family members with the bigger and more expensive collections of ornaments and furniture, therefore revellers ought to take care before conga-ing around the garden.?

Other reasons the over 50s throw parties are to celebrate their own birthday, wedding anniversaries, reunions and wedding receptions.
